MMOD adds a simple running animation that you would see in the likes of COD or Battlefield. The vanilla game would have you running arm stretched in front of you like an extremely caffeinated zombie. With that mod, atmosphere becomes impeccable thanks to visual and audio enhancements, and gameplay becomes more modern thanks to the added iron sights and more. The more noticeable additions are the reload and sprinting animations. It feels more powerful and vastly improves the lacking shooting elements of HL2.Ī quick look above shows off some of the changes that MMOD provides which are mainly sound and visual which just feel… good. Guns recoil more and shots don’t sound like a paintball gun. It merely tinkers slightly with the game’s features so it feels like a better FPS. Other mods - like Half-Life’s MMOD - offer subtle changes that can elevate a 16-year-old game for a modern audience.Īnd dare I say, I think anyone new to Half-life 2 should just simply play the MMOD version as the experience is vastly superior.

They can also just wreck everything but unfortunately, you can only uninstall one of them when things get too much. They’re often screaming in your face to let you know they’re there and can completely change how you experience something.
